- Organises forums which keep practitioners informed of the latest teaching practices, theories, discussions and debates affecting adult literacy, numeracy and English language teaching
- Offers members discounts at forums
- Assists individual members with queries relating to adult literacy and numeracy education
- Lobbies government and draws media attention to adult literacy and numeracy education issues
- Contributes to policy development through professional representation on national bodies
- Represents members and their views nationally, with representation on the national peak body, the Australian Council of Adult Literacy (ACAL)
- Provides associate membership to ACAL
- Provides members with copies of the quarterly ACAL journal, Literacy Link
- Publishes Literacy & Numeracy Exchange and Council News
